Angiostrongylus spp. in South America: A Scoping review
Abstract
Introduction: taxonomy, life cycle, pathology and epidemiology of nematodes of the genus Angiostrongylus.
Objective of this study: to synthesize the available scientific evidence related to Angiostrongylus spp. in South America between 2013 and 2023.
Materials and methods: About scoping review whit the prism guide and the selection and extraction of variables.
Results: report of the main results of this study: A total of 22,963 publications were screened, of which 64 complied.
Additional topics to be covered:
- Research as a useful tool in angiostrongyliasis and public health: I will detail my experience on how to contribute to guiding public health strategies, detection and prevention of angiostrongylysis from the field of research as a first resource.
- Vulnerable populations in the context of Obstetrics/Gynecology versus angiostrongyliasis: I will address the issue of vulnerable populations in the field of Obstetrics/Gynecology, for example, pregnant women in contexts of environmental or food contamination.
