Identification of the occurrence of chlamydia trachomatis in pregnant women treated at the Iguassu/Mariana bulhões school maternity hospital, Nova Iguaçu. A contribution to diagnosis and treatment
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the occurrence of Chlamydia trachomatis infection in pregnant women treated at the Maternidade Escola Iguassu/Mariana Bulhões, in the municipality of Nova Iguaçu, contributing to the early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of this infection. This is a randomized quantitative research with bibliographic, descriptive, and laboratory characteristics. A total of 100 endocervical secretion samples were collected from pregnant women treated in the obstetric emergency department and tested using a rapid diagnostic test for Chlamydia trachomatis. In addition, structured questionnaires were applied to gather clinical, sociodemographic, and behavioral data. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics, allowing for the correlation between infection occurrence and possible identified risk factors. The findings are expected to contribute to the expansion of prevention strategies, the implementation of prenatal screening protocols, and the reduction of maternal-fetal risks associated with the infection.
